Ungava Canada Gin takes its name from the peninsula of the same name, Ungava, which belongs to the state of Quebec. The word “Ungava” comes from the ancient Inuit culture and means “towards the open water”. The botanicals (including juniper, crowberries and porst) used in Ungava Canadian Premium Gin also come from the Arctic region. But why this gin came to Canada has the following background: trappers and gold miners in Canada have been drinking this gin for a long time, as they believe that gin has a medicinal effect on them.
Some traditional production methods for Ungava Canada Gin were adopted from the ancient Inuit. The botanicals are first steeped in alcohol and then further botanicals are added after distillation.
